Women carrying water

Posted by Eyeing Africa (?, United States) on 21 January 2009 in Documentary & Street.

This picture was taken in the northern district of Lira in Uganda. These women were part of an HIV/AIDS support group which assisted people in the community living with HIV. They have helped individuals to plant their gardens, fix their houses, and send their children to school.

I love the colours of their clothes and the fields and sky. not too sure about the super-wide angle since it's created some distortion (or does the kid on the left have kwashiorkor?). only one lady has the poise to stand there without carefully balancing her bucket :)

it's great to see someone posting from rural Africa - I'm always thrilled to find another photoblogger from Africa. thanks for sharing your shots.
